


The organizational structure of Genoma España is shown below.
The board of trustees provides a means for members and associates to elect or appoint people that oversee the activities of Genoma España. It ensures that the core values and purposes of the organization are reflected in its operational processes. The Board also manages the annual budget of Genoma España.
Generally, members of the board of trustees serve terms on a two-year basis, although various charters allow for these to be re-elected or re-appointed upon the completion of each term. The different board members with their name, position and organization are given below.

Rafael Camacho obtained his bachelor’s degree in pharmacy at the University of Seville and carried out postgraduate studies in biochemistry and molecular biology, biotechnology and marine biology. He has dedicated his entire career to the field of innovation management in both the public and private sectors.
His professional career began in 1989 at the Liaison Office in the University of Seville, where Rafael specialized in technology transfer, intellectual property and university-industry cooperation. He later worked as Technical Director at the Southern Europe Innovation Relay Centre (CESEAND). In 2002, he joined the biotechnology company Newbiotechnic as Managing Director.
In 2006, Rafael created and managed the Technology Transfer Office of the Public Health System, for the Andalusian Regional Government; and late 2008 he joined the management team at the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT).
Currently, Rafael holds the position of General Director at Genoma España.

Fernando Garcés holds a PhD in biological sciences. He was a researcher at the Spanish Nuclear Energy Advisory Board from 1971 to 1981. Later he was appointed General Director of a public health services foundation, where he worked for nine years.
From 1990 to 1996, he was head of the Project Economic Control Unit at the CIEMAT (research centre for energy, environment and technology) undertaking economic evaluation of R&D projects as well as monitoring and evaluating project planning. He was also in charge of the CIEMAT’s budget draft proposal and the coordination of internal and external auditing.
In 1994, Fernando was appointed head of the OTRI (Liaison Office) under the auspices of the Commercial Directorate of the CIEMAT. As head of the OTRI, he was in charge of negotiating, managing and monitoring R&D agreements (European Framework Programme, National and Regional Plans) as well as agreements between the public and private sectors, universities and research centres.
Since 2002, Fernando has been managing director of Genoma España.
